10 surprising ways to use Flex wipes

Wipes are one of those things that you don’t fully appreciate (or even think you need) until you start buying them regularly. Then, all of a sudden, you wonder how you ever lived without them.

Have to change your period product at the airport? No more awkward bloody fingers walking from the bathroom stall to the sinks, thanks to the wipes stashed in your bag. Need to clean up after sex but don’t feel like getting out of bed because you just had the most incredible orgasm of your life? No worries, just grab that pack of wipes from your nightstand drawer.

While the obvious way to use wipes is when you’re in the bathroom and your vag (or butt, or whatever) needs a little extra freshening up in between showers, there are dozens of other ways to put these multitasking sheets to work.

Keep in mind that the exact degree of wipe versatility depends on the brand you choose, their ingredients, and portability (i.e. you may not want to lug a Costco-sized pack of 1,000 wipes with you on your next adult sleepover).

In honor of our recent product launch – check out Flex Wipes here, if you haven’t already – our team came up with a few of our favorite (unconventional) ways to use vaginal wipes in our day-to-day lives. Read on to learn more.

Oh, and here’s our reminder to put your wipes order on auto-ship, since there’s pretty much nothing worse than realizing you’ve run out on day one of your period.

How to use Flex wipes to freshen up down there

Before we dive into all the weird and unexpected ways the Flex® team uses wipes, here’s a quick crash course on how to use Flex wipes the way you expected to use them when you bought them: To clean and freshen up your intimate areas.

Flex wipes are perfect to use during your period – they make changing products a little less messy – and they’re also great for nixing any day-to-day odor you might feel self-conscious about.

But first, a disclaimer: Your vagina is technically self-cleaning (thanks to vaginal discharge), so it doesn’t need any special product to stay healthy. (1) Douches, in particular, are a no-no. They’re known to be detrimental to vaginal health, throwing off your pH and leading to irritation or even bacterial vaginosis. (2) So, don’t use wipes INSIDE your vagina, or any “cleansing” product, for that matter.

Also keep in mind that certain brands of wipes and washes contain harsh, synthetic, or irritating ingredients that do more harm than good, especially when used on sensitive areas. Before purchasing a new product, read the ingredients. Do a patch test to double-check that you don’t have an unexpected allergy. Learn more about the all-natural, chemical-free ingredients in Flex Wipes below.

Here’s how to use Flex Wipes in three easy steps:

1) To freshen up down there during your period or any other time, gently wipe wherever needed. Don’t use too much pressure on your labia or attempt to clean the inside of your vagina – remember, the vagina is self-cleaning! Always wipe from front to back if you’re using Flex Wipes after going to the bathroom. This way, you’ll avoid introducing any unwanted bacteria to your vagina or urethra (bacteria = increased likelihood for annoying UTIs and other bacterial infections).

2) To clean your menstrual cup or disc with Flex Biodegradable Wipes, first, dump out the contents in the toilet. Use a wipe or two to clean the entire surface of the cup or disc, inside and out, and then give the cup a few seconds to dry before reinserting.

3) Flush the used wipe down the toilet to dispose, or toss in the trash. Flex Wipes are biodegradable when flushed, so no need to stress about clogs!

Note: These steps are specific to Flex Wipes and do not necessarily apply to other brands of wipes. Always refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

10 alternative uses for Flex wipes

Without further ado, here are our ten favorite unconventional ways to use Flex Wipes, in no particular order. Have you come up with your own ingenious use? Let us know: email thefornix@flexfits.com or hit us up on social media @flex.

1. After spin, yoga, Crossfit, or any sweat-inducing activity

It’s always a good idea to de-sweat your pubic area – and the rest of your body, TBH – after an intense workout. If you don’t have time for a full-on shower, grab your vaginal wipes and give yourself a quick “alternative” shower.

Focus on your vulva/groin, armpits, under your boobs, back, neck, and face (avoiding your eye area), since these are the places that tend to get the sweatiest. Remember to throw on a clean, dry pair of underwear, too. Sweaty undies are the perfect breeding ground for yeast infections.

2. For post-sex (or masturbation) cleanup

You know that moment when you’ve just had mind-blowing sex and you really, really don’t want to move – but you’re also covered in something that’s slowly dripping its way towards your precious percale sheets?

If you’re prepared with a bedside pack of vaginal wipes, you only have to move a single limb to avoid any clean-up catastrophes. And there’s nothing like clean, dry, post-orgasm cuddling

3. When you really don’t feel like showering

This one’s pretty self-explanatory. And no judgment – seriously. If you’re using Flex Wipes as your faux shower, you’ll also benefit from a super fresh (but subtle) chamomile and rosemary scent from all-natural plant extracts, plus skin-soothing aloe vera.

4. When you spill something on a brand-new pair of sneakers

We’re definitely not claiming that Flex wipes have stain-removing superpowers, but they’re pretty excellent in a pinch, especially when used on less-porous surfaces (i.e. rescuing your new pair of Adidas or your favorite faux-leather backpack from salad dressing gone rogue). One of our team members has even used Flex Wipes to remove a *cough* semen stain from a dry-clean-only throw blanket.

5. To wrap up your used menstrual disc, tampon, or pad before throwing it out

Here’s a situation we’ve all found ourselves in: Out in public somewhere, at a friend’s house, or, worse, at your f*ck-buddy’s place, casually removing your menstrual product of choice, when (gasp) you realize you used the last squares of toilet paper to wipe.

There’s nothing left to wrap up your soon-to-be-discarded bloody tampon, disc, or pad. Instead, you have to awkwardly bury it at the bottom of the tiny bathroom trash can and pray that no one sees it. Stowing a pack of wipes in your bag ensures you’ll never have to live through this reality EVER again.

6. When there are no sinks nearby but you REALLY need to wash your hands

Okay, obviously, you should always use soap and running water to wash your hands when it’s available. But if you’re somewhere where this isn’t an option and your fingers are covered in chip dust and you really need to sext someone but don’t want to get said chip dust all over your phone, the pack of wipes in your backpack could be lifesaving. Just make sure to wash your hands for real when you eventually encounter a sink.

7. During the next toilet paper shortage

We’re not saying we’re expecting one, but we’re not not saying it, either. Rather than filling your entire basement with a lifetime supply of Charmin, just keep a few extra packs of wet wipes on hand. They’re more pleasant to use, more effective, and equally flushable.

8. As an impromptu face wipe

Yes: You can totally use (certain brands of) wipes as face wipes. The skin on your vulva and labia is extra sensitive, which means most wipes are made with gentle, non-irritating ingredients – the same kinds of ingredients you look for in facial cleansers and moisturizers.

Of course, everyone’s skin is different, so read the ingredient list and stay away from the eye area. We love using Flex Wipes as makeshift face wipes on the go – they’re gentle from head to toe and the aloe, cucumber extract, and oat extract add a nice dose of soothing moisture to boot.

9. During your next beach or camping trip

There’s nothing worse than getting back in the car after a long day at the beach, only to realize you’re still totally covered in sand – and that it’s somehow made it into places where it’s DEFINITELY not welcome. Say goodbye to sandy cracks with a quick post-beach wipe-down. You’ll get rid of that gross, oily sunscreen residue, too.

10. When applying self-tanner

As most self-tanner-devotees are aware, you have to be extra careful when applying tanner to dry, thicker-skinned areas like knees, elbows, palms, and ankles (if not, they’ll go like five shades darker than the rest of your body). To avoid this fate, next time you self-tan, follow up by gently dabbing a wipe on all those dry skin spots to blot away excess product.
